Q&A with Herbal Deva

on Sat, 02/20/2021 - 22:13

Tynne Love owner of Herbal Deva LLC, has been making teas, syrups, and herbal remedies for
wellness and less stress for several years. It is notable how many pay homage to her work. She is
known throughout many communities, teaching classes on herbalism, foraging, mindfulness, and
energy strengthening with Qi-gong.
The momentum of herbal devas products has been taking off across CT. It’s likely you’ve noticed
crowd pleaser favorites like Elderberry Syrup or Dragon Fire Cider at wellness markets, local grocers,
holistic centers, and cafes.
Ethically harvesting her own crops, Tynne has developed a rhythm throughout the season out in nature
creating her organic batches. With her innate capacity for identifying healing plants, you can
understand why she’s referred to as the Elderberry Queen of Connecticut. It was a true pleasure to sit
down and chat with our friend Tynne and hear what she had to say.

Tynne, could you tell us how you got involved with plant medicine?

This could make for a very long answer, so I will tell you the short answer! My mom is an herbalist and All my life I was sick, without a diagnosis or any relief from doctors, in my 20’s I turned to natural medicine.

Could you tell us something surprising about yourself, some interesting fact people wouldn’t typically know?

I wanted to be a rock star and a broadway singer at the same time!
I met Weird Al Yankovic and danced on tour when I was only 17! (I had lied about my age ) we are friends to this day ! He’s a vegan and was my biggest influence.

Why is your business named “Herbal Deva”? Is there a reason or story behind it?

Deva’s exist all throughout nature, they are the unseen, spiritual forces or beings of nature, working on the etherical level. Every flower, tree, plant, Herb, animal, person, living thing has its own Deva that hold the knowledge of that living thing.

What advice would you give your younger self, and what advise would you give your future self?

I wouldn’t! Life has been very hard and I would never want to go through any of the hard times again but all the lessons have made me who I am today. I wouldn’t want to chance changing anything.

Is there a plant you are eager to work with, that does not grow in Connecticut?

Ooooh, I love this question! Passionflower can grow here, but not like she does in let’s say Hawaii! The flower and vine are a nervine that help calm the mind especially when our minds are constantly racing!

We understand you have worked with some celebrity clientèle, would you like to share any stories with
us?

I mentioned weird Al above, but I also get to work with Air Supply! With both bands I am the herbalist when they’re on tour on the East Coast. All the traveling is very hard on the body and all the singing is very hard on the throat.

What advice would you give to someone who would like to start using plants for medicine?

A great place to start would be books from rosemary glad star, she is the grandmother of plant medicine she also has an herbal wisdom course which is a great place to start and it’s all online. I also offer in person classes.

Where do you see the future for Herbal Deva, what can we look forward to in 2021?

Right now I have a very small urban farm that’s not open to the public, and I work with several farms across the state but would love to have more property and a team of people working together Saving plants that are near extinction.
