In 2019 a sick elephant died at The Big E. Fortunately, in 2022 there were no wild animals at The Big E for the first time in decades. We are working diligently on state legislation, including the "Circus Bill", which will end the use of wild animals in traveling shows. We also hold fur, down and wool protests throughout the winter. WMARA also shut down a puppy mill store in Springfield in 2021 after passing a city ordinance banning the retail sale of dogs, cats and rabbits. In 2019 we helped put an end to Baystate Medical Center's training program that tortured pigs. In 2019 we also helped put an end to the Melha Shrine Circus, which used wild animals. WMARA has also helped pass a ban on wild animals in traveling shows in both Amherst and Northampton. We have an email list and are very active on Facebook and Twitter too. "What is a Myndstorm? they are self portraits of my own thoughts, as my head is filled with colours, exploding with vibrant rapture."
-A. Wallach
“Andrew’s work walks the line between chaos and order, he sets up the perimeters yet he controls the results to a certain point. So much depends on chance and a host of variables(temperature, viscosity, speed, chemical reaction and the placement of the paint). there’s a performance to creating his paintings and they continue to change and evolve(and grow) even after the performance is over.” – Jana Liptak

She also holds certification as an Usui Reiki Master (since 2010), and received her Kundalini Reiki Master certification in 2012. Betsy recently began expanding her work, providing Animal Reiki services after her son's lovable "pitty" began requesting her treatment when she came to visit. Her Energy work is intended to help the recipient tap into the body's own healing power, to release dis-ease and energy imbalances within the Human Energy Field. Betsy acts as a channel, to bring forward the Universal Life Force energy that surrounds and infuses us, to facilitate this process.
About all her work, she notes, "I believe I am called to teach, to help in healing, to offer guidance, and to share my artistic vision, to make the world a little more joy-filled. Animals are more closely connected to spirit and the unseen, and are naturally compassionate, loving beings. I love to help them, as well as their human partners, to connect to the Universal Energy. Perhaps you will join me as we explore, and rejuvenate our spirits with, the power and benefits of art & Reiki.

Whispering Tulips

Whispering Tulips https://www.etsy.com/shop/WhisperingTulips?ref=shop_sugg to Compassionfest 2017. I have always liked how beautiful a flower can be. Growing up, I have always been around gorgeous gardens that my dad would make for us. I would always take pictures of them for my photography class, but i never thought that I would be making jewelry based on flowers.
I am also a big fan of jewelry. Growing up, my arms would be covered with bracelets and I would always be on the hunt for interesting necklaces to wear. I would at least wear 5 or 6 bracelets on each wrist (and still do to this day), a long necklace, and my class ring. It never occurred to me that jewelry making should be a hobby.
My interest in crafting came from when my mom, her friend, and I went to a crafting show. Going into it I thought 'Man, this is going to be a long day', but the moment I walked into the room I was in awe. There was so much creativity, and passion that I knew immediately that I had to be apart of that. I thought that if they can make these things, that I can to. As I was browsing through Etsy, I saw that many people where doing the exact thing that I am doing. They saw something that they were interested in, and just went for it. I knew that I at least had to try.
The store for now will just have necklaces, and hopefully in the future, it will have pictures that I have taken and greeting cards that I will make. I hope you like the pieces just as much as I do.

Petra Szilagyi

Surrealism is a trait inherited from my mother and grandmother; this makes a strong case for frequent use of breasts in my work. Making art is primarily a form of therapy for myself, I trust that the byproducts of this process, the artworks, speak to people beyond myself. I am very interested in morality. Not from a normative standpoint, but rather through a process of trial-and-error. My artwork serves as a laboratory for moral experiments.

Glenn P Art

Hand made spoons & utensils all made the traditional way. Wooden spoons and the stories they hold. It all started teaching wilderness and earth skills to teens at summer camp. I was working on advanced skills with the kids, spoon making being one of them. The kids all started off small or with metal spoons in mind. So I started exploring what wood could offer. I would make a spoon a day or something really crazy for the week and I did this all summer. The Summer camp had all ages there and in the morning we all hung out together. The younger kids started getting into spoon making too. They loved to watch the process in the morning and see how far it came by the end of the day. That inspire me to try different and harder designs. In turn the kids and teens started experimenting with their spoon shapes too. I want to keep this sharing and exploring going as I continue my spoon journey.

Sweet Life Threads

Sweet Life Threads began several years ago long before it even had a name. Back then it was just something fun for me to do on the side, selling upcycled headbands and accessories from my campsite at hippie festivals, and making custom clothes for myself and close friends. Who is Sweet Life Threads? My name is Cher and I am the owner, designer, creator, shopper, website writer, photographer, etc., etc. My fiance helps take pictures when I model, but besides that I am a ONE woman operation. I put all my effort into this business because what could be more fulfilling than creating beautiful things for people who love your work? Being eco-friendly is something that has always been a priority for me. Many people don’t realize that wearing the right clothing is another way to support a healthy environment! The name “Sweet Life Threads” resonates with me in a big way because I am driven to be happy and live my life the way I want- and you should be too!

Our Secret Treehouse

All of the items from Our Secret Treehouse are created from original, hand-drawn artwork using as many eco-friendly components as possible. Scientifically whimsical! Our prints, cards, buttons, and tees feature cartoons based on original sketches inked by hand. Prints are featured on high quality paper mounted on acid-free mats; tees and cards are hand silk-screened on organic cotton shirts and 100% recycled paper. Perfect for kids of all ages! Who is Our Secret Treehouse? Richard: I’m a paleontologist, author, and artist. A life-long love of dinosaurs and all things prehistoric led me toward scientific research and illustration, while a life-long love of whimsy and play led me to cartooning. More often than not, the two are inseparable. As my art evolves, it seems to simplify, and I’m continually overjoyed when one of my simple creations brings a smile to the faces of those that see them. Kelly: I am a silly girl who loves to play. I have always had a fascination with greeting cards and how a simple piece of paper can completely alter someone’s day. I have dreamed of screen printing cards for years, but it wasn’t until I saw Richard’s cartoons that I found the images that finally pushed me into it. I love these drawings, and am happy that they will be finding new homes.
